Lawday Civil Engineering has grown from local groundworks into a contractor trusted by councils, NHS trusts, developers and main contractors across Kent and the South East.

Our Story

As the scale and complexity of our projects have grown – from NHS Foundation Trust car park resurfacing and Kew Gardens drainage to S278 highway works for local authorities – our approach has stayed the same: directly employed teams, careful sequencing, and a focus on getting it right first time.
Today we work across six sectors – facilities management, heritage, retail, education, healthcare and highways – delivering everything from minor civils to full highway construction under Section 278, 38 and 104 agreements.

How We Work

Every project we take on is delivered the same way – with our own people, careful planning around site constraints, and a focus on getting it right first time. It’s an approach built from experience across six sectors, and it’s why councils, NHS trusts and main contractors come back to us.
Directly employed teams
Our own operatives deliver the majority of works on site, keeping quality and accountability in-house. There’s no long chain of subcontractors to manage – just experienced teams who know our standards and take ownership of the outcome, from first fix to final handover.
Careful sequencing
Every project is planned around live site constraints – school terms, retail trading hours, hospital access. We sequence each phase in detail before work starts on site, so disruption is minimised and the people using that space day to day are never an afterthought.
Right first time
Attention to detail at every stage, from technical approval through to handover and adoption. We’d rather get it right the first time than come back to fix it – which means fewer delays, fewer snags, and a scheme that’s signed off without complication.
