Groundworks is the foundation of every successful civil engineering project. Lawday’s directly employed groundworks teams deliver site clearance, earthworks and enabling works ahead of the main build, followed by foundations, sub-base construction and hardstanding – all coordinated with utilities providers to keep statutory diversions on programme.
We work across minor and major civils packages, from single-plot enabling works to multi-hectare commercial developments, with compaction testing and quality records provided at every stage to satisfy building control and client engineers.

Site clearance, earthworks & enabling works

Vegetation clearance, demolition and bulk earthworks carried out ahead of the main package, including muckaway and import of engineered fill.

Foundations, kerbing & hardstanding

Strip and trench foundations, kerb lines and hardstanding construction to specification and building control approval.

Sub-base construction & compaction testing

Type 1 sub-base laid and compacted to engineer’s specification, with plate testing and CBR records provided.

Utilities coordination & statutory diversions

Early liaison with statutory undertakers to programme diversions and new connections without delaying the wider works.
