Following the success of Lawday’s resurfacing programme for Lidl UK, the retailer returned with a more technically demanding instruction: a specialist underpinning scheme at its Harrow & Weald store, addressing ground movement that had affected the building’s eastern elevation – all without taking the store out of trade.

Our teams installed structural underpins along the affected elevation and placed 85m3 of structural concrete to restore stability. Externally, faceworks brickwork walls compromised by ground movement were carefully dismantled and rebuilt, with Helifix repairs used to stabilise and remediate the remaining masonry. Existing tarmacadam and landscaped areas were removed to enable the works, all managed within a tight site compound to keep disruption to a minimum while the store stayed fully operational.

A fully remediated structure, handed back with complete reinstatement – new tarmacadam surfacing, concrete edgings, fencing and decorative stone – delivered as a direct continuation of Lawday’s relationship with Lidl UK, built on the trust established through the group’s earlier resurfacing programme.
